Active links in PDF/A documents

This guide shows you how to make links in PDF/A documements active in Adobe Reader.

Please note: Turning off PDF/A-mode is not recommended as there is a risk that the document will not be displayed correctly.

You are advised to turn PDF/A-mode on again when finished working with a document.

In accordance with the Ministry's web accessibility policy, PDF-documents are published in the PDF/A-1a format. As a result, links are not active by default in Adobe Reader.

When using Adobe Reader you can make links active in PDF/A documents by changing a setting:

  1. Open Adobe Reader
  2. Choose "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu
  3. Choose the category "Documents"
  4. Choose "Never" from the dropdown menu in the box: "PDF/A View Mode"

The links will now be active in Adobe Reader.
