Analysis of Trends

Spring of 2011, the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation asked the consultant company Oxford Research to prepare an analysis of important trends in Denmark and globally.

The analysis is a systematic review of relevant literature on the basis of which Oxford Research were asked to identify the most important Danish as well as global trends. It is not the purpose to pinpoint specific research needs in the analysis.

The purpose of the analysis is to support and inspire RESEARCH2020-contributors identifying promising research areas created by societal and economic development.

EU2020, Innovation Union and Horizon 2020

EU2020 and Innovation Union aims to strengthen growth and address the major societal challenges facing Europe.

EU2020 is EU's growth strategy, which aims at bringing Europe stronger out of the economic and financial crisis.

Part of the EU2020 is a series of flagship initiatives including Innovation Union, which is the flagship initiative in research and innovation.

30 November 2011 the European Commission presented its proposal for Horizon 2020 - the new Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, which will replace FP7 Horizon 2020 and will apply for the period 2014-2020. It is expected to have a budget of almost 80 billion. euros (about 595 billion. dollars)

OECD horizon-scanning

As a starting point for the RESEARCH2015 process, OECD, commissioned by the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, developed horizon-scanning, in which international foresights and analyses were analyzed to identify important challenges facing society in a Danish and global context. The Horizon-scanning resulted in OECD identifying 150 major societal challenges.

Gallup poll of the public preception of research

In spring 2011 the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation asked TNS Gallup to conduct an opinion poll of Danish preception to a number of issues concerning science and technology, including strategic research.

The poll were made on a representative selection of the population. The study aims to support and inspire the RESEACH2020 work.
