The expert panel
In the second phase of RESEARCH2015 the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation established a team of experts consisting of eight professional people with a wide knowledge of the challenges of society and of Danish research.
The expert panel’s assignment was to analyse the results of the extensive mapping of the strategic research needs, carried out by the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation in the first project phase. With this starting point, the team of experts’ assignment was to identify a limited number of significant themes for Danish strategic research.
During its work, the expert panel was to present an initial proposal for strategic research themes to a user panel, consisting of representatives of the demand-side of strategic research from both business and society.
The members of the expert panel were not appointed as representatives of specific sectors or scientific areas, but as experts with a wide knowledge base.
In October 2007 the expert panel was appointed by the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation in consultation with The Danish Council for Strategic Research. The team presented its final proposal for 31 promising strategic research areas in December 2007.
