China is a strategic partner for Denmark, when it comes to science, technology and innovation. During the last couple of years a number of initiatives have cemented the common commitment from both governments to further strengthen this cooperation.

Scientists in China and Denmark have great opportunities for exploiting these initiatives.

Growing bilateral cooperation between China and Denmark

Ms. Sun Shu is employed by the Danish company Nordic Bioscience in Beijing. She began her research there a couple of years ago. This year she started her first year as an Industrial PhD student for the company.

Ms. Sun Shu is but one of a score of Chinese researchers, who work in Danish laboratories, and they are one of the direct results of a growing bilateral cooperation between our countries.

The platform

The platform for the Danish – Chinese cooperation is the Ministry’s “STRATEGY – knowledge-based collaboration between Denmark and China”. The vision of the strategy is

”… that Denmark and China will grow to be close partners in the knowledge area in the coming years. This will lay the groundwork for adding value to the Danish and Chinese societies through exchange of knowledge, technology and highly educated manpower. At the same time, the bilateral cooperation between the countries contributes to increased networking and cultural understanding, with benefits for both Denmark and China in a global context marked by mutual dependence.”

Strategy for knowledge-based collaboration

The vision behind the strategy is that the relationship between Denmark and China will develop and make the two countries close partners in the knowledge area. It must be easier for Danish and Chinese knowledge-based organisations to cooperate and exchange knowledge across our borders.
