EUROHORCs

EUROHORCs (European Union Research Organisations Heads of Research Councils) is an informal association of the heads of national research councils in Europe.

EUROHORCs was established in 1992 and consists of 37 research organisations from the member countries of the EU as well as of a few associated countries (Norway, Island, and Switzerland).

The Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF) and the Danish Council for Strategic Research (DCSR) are members of EUROHORCs. The chairmanship and the functions of the secretariat take turn between the member countries of EUROHORCs.

The aim of EUROHORCs is to strengthen the influence of the national research organisations and the European research environment on European research policies, especially concerning the research programmes of the EU. EUROHORCs uses the European Science Foundation (ESF) as an implementation agency.

Occasionally EUROHORCs sets up task groups to work out reports or declarations about subjects of research political character. These reports can be found on the homepage of EUROHORCs.

Examples of EUROHORCs’ initiatives
