Besides the activities facilitated by the EU, the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation is involved in a wide number of European activities. These activities are partly made up of collaborations based on specific subject areas, partly of collaborations concerning more general research political fields as well as business related research projects.
In relation to the subject-specific collaborations, the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation participates in a wide number of European activities concerning for example space science and molecular biology.
Among other things, these collaborations provide Danish researchers with access to research facilities that involve such expenses, that they presuppose international cooperation to be realised.
In relation to the research political fields, the research councils participate in European collaborations working to strengthen the influence of the national research organisations and the European research environment on European research policies. The EUROHORCs-cooperation is an example of such collaboration.
With the membership of for example the European Science Foundation, the research councils also work to strengthen the European basic research and the mobility among researchers in Europe.
In relation to the business related research projects, the Council for Technology and Innovation finances activities that focus on securing the access for Danish companies to knowledge and knowledge development. This takes place through active cooperation with foreign companies and knowledge institutions in project-based collaborations such as Eurostars, Era-SME and the EUREKA-collaboration.
