International

The main objective of the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation is to promote a Danish presence in international research and innovation collaboration.

This is to ensure that Denmark exploits international collaboration opportunities for the benefit of national development.

The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation also contributes actively to international developments in areas where Denmark has special competencies or where Denmark especially wants to influence international developments.

The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation and the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education have an office in Brussel (DANRO) and Innovation Centers in both Silicon Valley, Shanghai and Munich.

These offices are strategically situated to promote Danish participation in international collaboration by acting as spearheads to increase the visibility and impact of Danish companies and research institutions in the international arena.

The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation's international activities also include coordination of Danish participation in international research collaboration primarily within the EU, but also within organisations such as NATO and the OECD.

Furthermore The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation is also responsible for the Danish memberships of, among others, ESA, CERN, ESO, EMBL, COST and EUREKA. And the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation backs a variety of bilateral agreements on research collaboration with countries outside Europe.

The Agency's Nordic collaboration includes the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Committee for Co-operation (NOS), with the participation of the scientific research councils.

The knowledge, service and dissemination centres EuroCenter and the Climate and Polar Unite are central to the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation's external activities in the international area within EU research collaboration and polar research, respectively.


Facts

Since 2006, the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education and the Trade Council og Denmark, The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, have set up three innovation centers in strong, international knowledge environments in Silicon Valley (USA), Shanghai (China) and Munich (Germany). The purpose of the innovation centers is to contribute to the internationalisation of Danish research and enhance the innovative and competitive strength of Danish Business.
