The Industrial PhD Programme

An Industrial PhD project is a three-year industrially focused PhD project where the student is hired by a company and enrolled at a university at the same time.

The company receives a monthly wage subsidy of DKK 14,500 while the university has its expenses for supervising etc. covered. The PhD student works full time on the project and divides his or her time equally between the company and the university.

Less red tape in the Danish Industrial PhD Programme - auditor's certification now only required for final financial report

The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation aims at reducing the administrative burdens for users of the agency's various subsidy programmes as much as possible. This is an ongoing task that requires a constant assessment of the optimal amount of control with the use of subsidies.

As part of this effort, the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation is now removing the requirement for an annual auditor's certification of the financial reporting submitted by companies for Industrial PhD projects. From now on, an auditor's certification will only be necessary for the company's final financial report in the project. This is effective immediately and applies to all ongoing Industrial PhD projects.

  • On non-compete clauses
The Industrial PhD candidate’s employment contract must not contain any non-compete clauses limiting possibilities of employment elsewhere.

It is now possible to have Industrial PhD projects following a 3+5 scheme approved.
