Call for Proposals 2012 - The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences
The main application deadline is 8. March 2012 with a supplementary application deadline for Individual postdoctoral grants only 6. September 2012. The call covers applications submitted for both application deadlines and for possible Hasteansøgninger.
The information in this specific call applies to applications that meet the specified deadlines around 1. March and 1. September 2012, respectively.
As from 2012 DFF will only publish one call for proposals every year. Thus, this call applies both to the main application deadline and the autumn deadline for 2012. The main application deadline for instruments in 2013 will be moved forward from the beginning of March 2013 to the beginning of November 2012.
As from 2013 the main application deadline will fall in the beginning of November, with the addition of a spring deadline in the beginning of May, where only applications for Individual postdoctoral grants may be submitted.
The Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF) supports research based on the researchers' own initiatives within and across all scientific fields.
DFF comprises a board and five scientific research councils, and one of these is The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences (FSS). In 2012 DFF has one call for proposals, comprising five parallel calls from the individual scientific research councils. Apply by using the e-application system
Applications can only be submitted via the e-application system of the Danish Agency of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Processing procedure
The deadline for submission of applications for all instruments to Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences (FSS) - is March 8, 2012 at 10 pm (22.00) and September 6, 2012 at 10 pm (22.00). Applicant must submit an e-application via the E-application system (see above).
Shortly after submitting your application, you will receive an e-mail confirming that the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation has received your application. The processing of applications submitted before each deadline will have the following time frame:

The final decision on granting an application or not is taken by the Council on the basis of:
- The submitted application
- The Council's assessment of the application, with reference to the call for proposals and assessment criteria
- If necessary a referee rebuttal
The Council's final decision on granting an application or not is based on a rating of the application seen in relation to all the other applications with regard to the quality of the application and the total funds available.
The applicant will receive the decision in writing via e-mail, in the form of a letter of grant or in the form of a letter of rejection. A letter of rejection will include a brief justification of the Council's decision.
External review
Individual external review
The Council will submit your application for external review if:
-The total amount applied for exceeds DKK 13 million, excl. overhead/administration expense
- A Council member is applicant or a co-applicant in an application whose total budget exceeds DKK 1 million, excl. overhead/administration expenses
- The Council is demed disqualified or for other reasons does not posses the necessary scientific expertise to consider the application.
