The application procedure

The Danish Council for Strategic Research makes use of two different application procedures: a one-phase and a two-phase procedure, respectively.

Typically, the Danish Council for Strategic Research uses a two-phased application procedure.
In the first phase the applicants are asked to submit a phase-1 application (prequalification). The requirements are significant below the requirements for the final application. On the basis of the phase-1 applications, the programme commission decides which applicants are to be invited to submit a final application. In connection with this invitation, the programme commission can present concrete wishes and requirements for the final application.
As regards the final application phase, the programme commission decides which projects are to be funded. This will be done on the basis of peer reviews by, typically, two international experts, the applicants’ potential comments to this (collected in the consultant procedure), as well as on the evaluation criteria described in the call.
The international experts are to a great extent recruited from the Danish Council of Strategic Research’s peer review panel. However, the applicants also have the option of suggesting reviewers as a part of the phase-1 application.
