The Danish Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences

The Danish Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences (FSE) funds specific research activities based on researchers' own initiatives and provides research-based advice within the Council's scientific areas of expertise.

The Council strengthens the dissemination and application of research findings as well as participating in international collaboration.

The Council covers the following main disciplines: economics, sociology, political science and jurisprudence, as well as the societal aspects of a number of interdisciplinary areas (e.g. development studies, gender studies and cultural geography).

FSE calls for applications for research funding within the Council's scientific areas of expertise every six months. These calls for applications are accompanied by requirements to and guidelines for applications. Certain grant types may be applied for at any time. The 15 members of the Council are recognised researchers and officially appointed by the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation within their personal focus areas.
