The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences

The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences (FSS) funds specific research activities based on researchers' own initiatives and provides research-based advice within the Council's scientific areas of expertise.

FSS also strengthens the dissemination and application of research findings as well as participating in international collaboration.

FSS covers all aspects of basic, clinical and socio-medical research geared towards human health and disease.

The Council calls for funding applications for research within the Council's areas of expertise. From 2012, the Council issues calls for applications once a year containing guidelines for applicants.

The 18 members of the Council are recognised researchers and officially appointed by the Minister for Science, Innovation and Higher Education within their personal focus areas.
