Spring applications
The Sapere Aude: DFF – Postdoc project description is from 2011 a supplement to your postdoctoral project application to the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants (see current call). It should only be submitted if you are selected to compete for a Sapere Aude: DFF – Postdoc grant later in 2011. You will in that case be contacted directly by DFF.
Please note that both applicants that have filled in section 15(supplementary information) and indicated that they also wish to apply under Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc and those who have not done so, may be invited to take part in the competition for a Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc grant.
If you apply under Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc the consideration of your application will take place in two stages. The application for the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants will be considered by the council you submitted the application to. For applications submitted 1 to 3 March 2011 the council decisions will be made public on fi.dk/dff during May/June 2011. The exact meeting dates for the five scientific councils will be made public on this website as soon as they have been decided upon.
Grant and rejection letters will be sent to all applicants for the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants after the council decisions. A rejection letter for the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants is also a rejection for taking part in the competition for a grant under Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc. You will thereby receive only one rejection letter. In case of a grant as a result of your application to the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants you may initiate your postdoctoral work immediately and thereby before you know whether or not you also receive a grant under Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc.
The scientific council you submitted your application to determines whether your granted application should be included, along with other applications from all scientific fields, in the competition for a Sapere Aude: DFF – Postdoc grant. The competition takes place once every year and may include applications submitted during Spring as well as Autumn 2011.
Autumn applications
For applications submitted in September 2011 the consideration process is identical to the one described for the Spring. For the Autumn call you can expect to receive a possible grant letter before Christmas. Rejection letters are planned issued during the latter part of December 2011 and the beginning of January 2012 at the latest. In case of a grant as a result of your application to the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants you may initiate your postdoctoral work immediately and thereby before you know whether or not you also receive a grant under Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc.
The exact meeting dates for the five scientific councils' consideration of applications to the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants in Autumn 2011 will be made public on this website as soon as they have been decided upon.
Cross-council processing and evaluation
The granted applications for the instrument Individual postdoctoral grants that the five scientific councils find are good enough to compete for funds from Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc are considered by a cross-council board during week 49 in 2011. Prior to this, the separate Sapere Aude: DFF – Postdoc project description will during week 45 be requested from the selected applicants who's applications are to take part in the competition.
The cross-council board that is made up of representatives from the five scientific councils in The Danish Council for Independent Research together select the very best applications for a Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc grant. Grants and rejection letters are issued by the council your application belongs to.
An overview of the Sapere Aude: DFF - Postdoc grants will go online at fi.dk/dff during week 51 and you will be informed directly about a grant prior to Christmas. Rejection letters are planned issued during the latter part of December and the beginning of January 2012 at the latest.
Sapere Aude: DFF-Starting Grant
Applications for the grant type DFF-Starting Grant that live up to the formal requirements are submitted for peer review. The peer review is sent to you during the first two weeks of May 2011. You have the possibility to comment on the peer review to the research council, but you are not required to do so.
On the basis of the peer review and any comments you might have added, the application is subsequently assessed in the relevant scientific research councils. The most highly prioritised applications are nominated for evaluation in a cross-council committee consisting of a number of members from different academic fields.
Cross-council processing, evaluation and interview
All nominated applicants are summoned for a brief interview in Copenhagen in mid-June 2011. Approvals or rejections are given by the scientific research council(s) relevant to your application, and you will receive an answer no later than September 2011. A list of approved applications will be uploaded to fi.dk/dff as quickly as possible, and you will afterwards be informed on any rejection or approval.
